PETER ASHLEY (Billy Banana) performed his first fee earning show at the age of
twelve years and for the princely sum of seven shillings and sixpence! He has now been entertaining for over forty years. He is still however very young at heart and well in
tune with the needs of even the youngest audience. He never stands on his own dignity, which possibly helps!
He has appeared at functions of all sorts, including parties, fetes, carnivals,
stage shows and pantomime, to name but a few. He has even been a Punch and Judy Man on the beach!
Other venues include a four year stint as Children's Uncle at a well known holiday
centre on the Isle of Wight and further seasons in Norfolk. He has performed many times for local authorities in various locations. Peter was also resident Punch and Judy Man
on Newmarket Racecourse for eleven seasons, and only ceased performing there because of holiday camp commitments.
He has also given numerous talks on radio, including Radio Solent, Radio Victory,
Radio Cambridgeshire and several other independent stations. His television credits as supporting artist include: Lovejoy (several episodes), The Chief, Silent Witness, Middlemarch
etc. In addition he has been seen a number of times in interviews, and segments of his performances have been shown by various television companies.
Peter Ashley has also toured extensively with his own children's shows, including,
Funtime Spectacular, The Clown Lollipop Show, The Silly Sausage Show and lately, The Buster Bunny Show. He hopes to tour with a new production, 'The Wotta State Circus
Show', sometime soon.
Peter is a full member of EQUITY and the
International Magicians Society.
